IWD 2011: Be Fearless

HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY
Feminism ! Not man hating, not thinking women should have more than their male counterparts, real FEMINISM. Equality, mutual respect, shared responsibility, opportunities, no limitations based on gender, freedom of choice, looking out for each other. Stand up for your fellow female - if you see three girls attacking one, stick up for her. If your friend is getting abused by her boyfriend, girlfriend, mother, father, whoever the fuck else and she won't leave them, tell her to get some self respect and wash her hands of them. There's that old cliche of 'male camaraderie' - girls need that too. Stand by your fellow female
It's not always the case, but certainly with the different social circles I've been in - if a couple get divorced, it's the girls fault. She must have been some kind of bitch... if a couple split up, it's probably the girls fault. If a guy cheats on his girlfriend with her best friend, the best friend is a bitch and the guy is kind of forgotten about. What is this ?
Don't let a girl piss you off, but don't hate on her either. Women can bitch about 'typical men' and 'commitmentphobes' all day long, but girls are way more evil to one another - and while we're at it, feminism has no uniform. If a girl wants to be a housewife, that is her choice. You don't need to parade your sexuality around or try and be a SATC clone, the whole point is you should be able to do what you want
Girls that want guys to like them more always say "I hate girls", but then their entire friendship group is made up of girls. Being female doesn't make you cruel, being cruel makes you cruel. When I have a moment of bitchiness, it's down to me and not my gender
There are parts of the world that allow women to be raped by a man without consequence, that will have a woman stoned to death if she wishes to divorce her husband or falls in love with somebody of a different faith. That is not acceptable
Feminism represents female empowerment, no labels or restrictions. Male or female, you can still be intelligent, independent, strong, sensitive, ambitious and powerful. Before you ask yourself 'is feminism still relevant though ?', the fact that women still have to prove themselves in things that men can just be accepted into as standard is reason enough
By default, a lot of people will assume their doctor will be male, their nurse will be female. The providing male and caring female is seen as the 'conventional' situation, which implies that this is what is more commonplace, more normal. If you're a housewife because you want to be, and you dedicate your life to looking after your husband and your children because that is your life choice, that makes you more of a feminist [by definition] than any girl that's flaunting themselves and claiming freedom and liberation because that is what she feels she should be doing to appear 'feminist'
It works both ways, and if you want to advertise your body because of just that - you just want to - then you're staying true. It's so cringe and cliche but there is nothing cooler than someone being genuine in their opinions, interests, lifestyle, personality, whatever. It's too easy to follow

I know that men suffer too, but that is a different subject. I am female, and am talking solely about feminine issues

Some of my favourite songs, mood lightening, feel romantic and enjoy:
